Analysis of acid compounds of an amine

Hello,

I would like to make the analysis of the acid compounds of an amine (acid salt).
It's a the analysis of a solution of washing of apparatus in very small quantity in an aqueous solution : tartrate acid.
I have made some tests on 100% dimethylpolysiloxane column and DB1701.
But the tests are not good because there is not repeatability.
Could you please advise me a capillary column for this analysis ?

Thanks
Christy

Hello Christy,

Tartrate as a salt can not be separated on a GC columnĀ ! The acid is solid and not stable at GC temperatures, therefore the repeatability is bad. So the best is derivatisation to the ester with TMS (trimethylsilyl) prior to analysis and separation on HP-1, or polar column as WAX.
