Hello,
I have a doubt for the Carbo sep CHO-620. Could you please tell me if it is possible to use this column with an UV detection ? I didn't find applications...

Hey Nils,

The CarboSep CHO 620 can be used with UV detection. However, the 620 is primarily used for carbohydrate analysis. If the sugar happens to have a carboxylic group, then UV will be absorbed and a peak will appear. The problem is that most carbohydrates do not have carboxylic functional groups and these will not be detected by UV. All the column does is separate out the sugars, sugar alcohols and some organic acids. Thus, you can use Refractive Index to detect the presence of those species that do not absorb UV.
