When using positively charged nylon or PVDF membranes for nucleic acid or protein blotting applications, it is essential that the proper blocking agent and the proper buffer be used. AMRESCO has released a blocking buffer which is optimized for blocking non-specific binding sites on these membranes. To use, simply incubate your membrane in BIO-Block (about 2ml per sq cm of membrane) at 37°C for 15-30min. Next, rinse the membrane in PBS or TBS and proceed with prehybridization. BIO-BLOCK is 0.5% Casein (Hammarsten Grade) available in either 1XTBS to ensure compatibility with most enzyme systems. Improve your signal to noise ratio with BIO-BLOCK solutions from AMRESCO.
