MINIBLOTTERS

The Miniblotter System is designed to save valuable time, effort, and reagents.  Within this multichannel instrument, each antibody, probe, or other ligand is incubated separately on a parallel section of an intact membrane, eliminating the need to cut individual strips.  Patented design assures no cross-contamination between channels, requires only microliter volumes instead of milliliters.  The detachable manifold allows you to rinse all channels simultaneously with a continuous stream of buffer, reducing washing time to seconds.

  • For membrane assays including Western, Northern, and Southern Blots and Checker-board Blots

  • Volume as low as 50µl

  • Multiple samples analyzed simultaneously

  • Decrease processing time

  • All results on a single membraneCompatible with all standard electrophoresis system

Miniblotter Units for Minigel Processing

The Miniblotter™  enable you to perform multiple antibody or probe incubations on a single membrane, using microliter volumes of reagent.  Typical applications include monoclonal antibody screening on western blots, animal and human serum screening, and DNA probe hybridizations.  Sample processing is streamlined through use of the Washing Manifold, which enables washing of all sample lanes simultaneously.  Reactions can be detected by all conventional methods, including enzyme conjugates, chemiluminescence and radiolabels.

Overview

Miniblotter 28 Dual

  • Procedure

  1. A blot or other membrane is inserted into the Miniblotter.

  2. Antibody or probe samples are pipetted into the Miniblotter's parallel channels and incubated on the membrane.

  3. Samples are aspirated and the membrane is then washed using the Washing Manifold.

  4. Detection reagent is pipetted into the Miniblotter channels and incubated on the membrane.

  5. Reagent is aspirated and the membrane is washed again using the Washing Manifold.

  6. The membrane is removed from the Miniblotter and incubated with the development reagent or substrate to reveal bands.

  7. Result

  • Miniblotter 28 - Single Unit

  • 28 channels (samples) per blot.

  • Holds up to 50µl of antibody or probe solution per channel.

  • Dimensions compatible with most standard gel electrophoresis chambers:

    • Channel dimension: 1.5 mm x 5.5 cm

    • Blot width covered: 8.3 cm

  • Ideal for hybridoma screening from 96-well microplates. Hybridoma supernatants can be transferred directly into Miniblotter 28 channels using an 8-channel automatic pipette.

  • Washing Manifold (F1) available for simultaneously washing of all channels.

  • Results on a single membrane are compared easily without switching or breaking of strips.

  • Instruments function with all detection methods (i.e., enzymatic, radioactive, chemiluminescence).

  • Miniblotter 28 - Dual Unit

  • Same as Single Unit except there are two sets of 28 channels so that two membrane blots can be placed between the Top and Bottom Plates allowing for the processing of up to 56 samples (28x2).

  • Miniblotter 20 - Single Unit

  • 20 channels (samples) per blot.

  • Holds up to 350µl of antibody or probe solution per channel.

  • Dimensions compatible with most minigel electrophoresis chambers:

    • Channel dimension: 4.0mm x 5.5cm

    • Blot width covered: 8.3cm

  • Greater volume per channel for highest sensitivity detection of low affinity and low titer antibodies.

  • Washing Manifold (F1) available for simultaneously washing of all channels.

  • Results on a single membrane are compared easily without switching or breaking of strips.

  • Instruments function with all detection methods (i.e., enzymatic, radioactive, chemiluminescence).

  • Miniblotter 16 - Dual Unit

  • Similar to Miniblotter 20 - Single Unit, except that there are two sets of 16 channels so that two membrane blots can be placed between the Top and Bottom Plates allowing for the processing of up to 32 samples (16x2).

  • Disposable Cassette Miniblot - Single Unit: The Disposable Miniblot System operates exactly as the Miniblotter 28 Unit, but its Top Plate frame (penned 'C-Shell') holds a disposable cassette. In addition to a test-specific blot, this disposable plastic cassette offers the same sample ports and 28 (enclosed) reaction channels as the Miniblotter 28 Unit. In the Disposable Miniblot System, however, once the assay is completed and the blot has been developed, the disposable cassette is thrown away - minimizing operator contact with potentially harmful reagents.

  • Disposable cassette has 28 enclosed reaction channels.

  • Cassettes prevent risk of carry-over from one assay to another.

  • Cassettes eliminate possibility of cross-contamination between samples

  • Cassettes safely contain potentially hazardous serum during assay

  • Holds up to 50µl of antibody or probe solution per channel.

  • Dimensions compatible with most minigel electrophoresis chambers:

    • Channel dimension: 1.5mm x 6.0cm

    • Blot width covered: 8.3cm

  • Miniwash™ Manifold available for simultaneously washing of all channels - cutting assay time.

  • Results on a single membrane are compared easily without switching or breaking of strips.

  • Instruments function with all detection methods (i.e., enzymatic, radioactive, chemiluminescence).
