Magnet Assisted Transfection (MATra)

Greatly improved transfection rates in just a few minutes

Magnet assisted Transfection is a new, easy-to-handle and highly efficient method to transfect cells in culture.

Using this new technique nucleic acids, such as plasmid DNA, oligonucleotides or siRNA, are in a first step associated with magnetic particles. Exploiting magnetic force the full nucleic acid dose is then rapidly drawn towards and delivered into the target cells leading to efficient transfection.

Advantages compared to standard transfections

  • Greatly improved transfection rates

  • Low vector doses

  • No toxicity

  • Easy protocol

  • Up to several thousand fold increased levels of transgene expression after short-term incubation with the transfection reagent

  • Functional with serum and serum-free

  • Successfully used on many and also critical cell lines (e.g. primary and neuroblastoma cells)

  • No need for expensive instruments (like electroporator or particle gun)

  • Highly cost-effective
