Our Base Silica

The Upti-prep silica is free of metal particles.

Each of the different manufacturing steps of this material is strictly controlled.

Rigorous manufacturing protocols enable Interchim to create silica which exhibits extreme mechanical stability. The particle size and pore size distributions of Upti-prep as well as the surface area are perfectly defined and reproducible.

Our Upti-prep silica has two major advantages:

  • A perfectly hydroxylated surface

  • Cylindrical pores

 

  1. Surface energy is lower than all generation "A type" silica and many "B type" silica. This guarantees a perfect peak shape for analysis of basic compounds.

  2. Actives sites are easily accessible, resulting in greater capacity without the risk of clogging.

 

The pyridine and guajakol inertness tests (with a special zeolite probe) are part of the essential tests for each silica batch manufactured

Pore geometry, combined with extreme mechanical stability governs the excellent lifetime characteristics of the Modulo-cart Quick Seal column packed with Upti-prep Silica.

This also proves to be an excellent tool for preparative chromatography.

The behaviour of our silica has been tested under several conditions by an independent organisation. It has been notably observed that it could sustain several packings and unpackings without damaging the integrity of the matrix.
