Hello,

I need to make the analysis of fatty acids in mineral/vegetal/animal oils.
I hesitate between an HP5 or an HP-Innowax in 30mx0.25mm 0.25µm.
Should I make a derivatisation before ?
Could you please tell me what is the best column ?

Thank you !

Hello Azar,

Free fatty acids can be analysed by a FFAP for example .
Usually, BF3 in MeOH is used to methyl esterify fatty acids, and the FAMES are injected in a split mode, so any reagent getting on the column is minimal...
