Acridine orange – single strand breaks appear red and double strand breaks appear yellow -green
Ethidium Bromide – red, 20 ug/ml, binds double strand breaks more efficiently than single strand breaks
DAPI – 1 ug/ml, binds to major groove of DNA and fluorescence is dependent on double-stranded structure
Propidium iodine – 2.5 to 20 ug/ml
Hoechst 33258 (0.5 ug/ml)
