What precautions should I take when using the External ELSD?

To ensure that you obtain the best possible results with your External ELSD, we recommend observing the following precautions for use:

- A cleaning step must be performed after each purification cycle to avoid crystallisation in the nebulizer. For this, purge the puriFlash and external ELSD with isopropanol, using the "ELSD Nebulizer cleaning" method located in the file methods.

Important:
This ELSD cleaning and stabilisation step is very important; if it is not performed, significant background noise may occur during your purifications. It should be performed after each purification process to prevent product crystallisation in the split valve or nebulizer.

- The following buffers must not be used: Phosphates, Sulphate, Potassium, HCl and H2SO4

- If you do not use the External ELSD, disconnect the column support outlet and UV detector inlet tubing (connected to the split valve) and connect the original tubes between the column support and UV detector.

- If the communication cable linking the puriFlash to the ELSD is disconnected, select "None" from "Edit", "System configuration" to avoid generating "communication error with detector" messages.

- for maintenance and troubleshooting, see part 4 of the FLASH-ELSD manual.

- During transport, the ELSD should be disassembled. (nebulizer and spray chamber)
