Directions for use

AMRESCO Gene-PAGE is ready to use, liquid acrylamide denaturing gel mix for use in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). It is provided pre-mixed with bis-acrylamide (N,N’-methylene-bis-acrylamide 19:1), 1X TBE as a buffer, and 7M urea as a denaturing agent. Gene-PAGE is offered in three convenient concentrations (4%, 6% and 8%). Gene-PAGE has been optimized for DNA sequencing but may be used for general RNA and DNA PAGE applications.

 

Saves you and your technical staff time.

With Gene-PAGE, there is no need to make stock solutions, no need to add urea or TBE buffer, no need to filter. You simply degas the solution, add and pour. Your work time is reduced from as much as three hours to as little as fifteen minutes. Gene-PAGE is made with AMRESCO Biotechnology Grade reagents and is microfiltered for highest quality.

Safer to use.

Gene-PAGE eliminates your exposure to powdered acrylamide dust and concentrated acrylamide solutions. Because the toxic effects of acrylamide are cumulative, every opportunity to reduce exposure is significant.

Gene-PAGE is pre-mixed, so you use only what you need. There is no waste or deterioration of stock solutions. Our quality control ensures that each gel casts and runs correctly. In fact, we guarantee it.

Helpful Hints:

For added convenience, use Gene-PAGE with AMRESCO TBE buffer, available as a 10X liquid (code 0658) or as a Ready-Pack powder (code J490).

 

Suggested Parameters:

(As with any material, some experimentation may need to be performed to determine the optimal formulation for individual use).

 

Polymerization Procedure:

  •  For best results, this product should be allowed to warm to room temperature before use.

  • Add the Ammonium Perfulfate TEMED polymerization catalyst/initiator disks. Mix the solutions by gently inversion for 2-3 minutes (to avoid bubbles) and immediately pour into a prepared glass plate assembly. Insert an appropriately sized comb into assembly and allow to polymerize completely. (Generally, waiting 1 hour before beginning electrophoresis leads to optimum results).
