RNA Gel Loading Kit (Code E877)

Directions for Use

Materials Provided in this Kit :
  • Denaturing Solution (Code E874) - 5 ml

  • DEPC Water (Code E476) - 2 ml

  • Glycerol Gel Loading Dye (Code E269) - 1 ml

This kit contains sufficient reagents to prepare and denature 100 RNA samples, prior to loading onto an agarose gel. For best results, this kit should be used for preparing samples to be run on formaldehyde/MOPS gels.

Materials Needed:
  • Agarose Gel, Prepared with MOPS buffer

  • 65 °C Water Bath

  • New, RNase-free Pipette Tips

  • RNase-free Microcentrifuge Tube

  • RNA Sample to be Loaded

Directions:

NOTE: The procedure below results in a total sample volume of 55 L. A 22 L sample volume may be obtained by using the volumes indicated in parentheses next to the original volumes.

  • Determine volume of RNA sample to be loaded. If sample volume is less than 10 L (4 L), add DEPC water to a final volume of 10 L (4 L) in a new, RNase-free microcentrifuge tube.

  • Add 35 L (14 L) Denaturing Solution and incubate the tube at 65 °C for 5 minutes.

  • Remove tube from water bath and add 10 L (4 L) Glycerol Gel Loading Dye.

  • Carefully load sample into agarose gel and electrophorese.
