RNA Markers 16S & 23S (Code J707), 18S & 28S (Code J706) Directions for Use |
|
Molecular analysis of RNA is becoming more and more prominent as a molecular tool in applications such as Northern Blotting, RT-PCR and cDNA library constructions. Accurate estimation of RNA fragment size is critical to many of these applications. The RNA Marker 16S & 23S is ribosomal RNA, purified from E.coli, and is comprised of 2 fragments, 1,776 bp and 3,566 bp in length. The 16S & 23S marker is provided at a concentration of 1.3mg/ml. The RNA Marker 18S & 28S is ribosomal RNA, purified from calf liver, and is comprised of 2 fragments, approximately 2,000 bp and 5,300 bp in length. This marker is provided at a concentration of 1.6mg/ml. The markers can be used for Northern Blots and are visualized by ethidium bromide staining. The recommended storage temperature is 80°C for long term storage and 20°C for short term storage. |
For evaluation by electrophoresis, 3-5µg of either marker will generate 2 distinct bands on a 1% denaturing agarose gel with ethidium bromide staining. In preparation for electrophoresis, the markers should be mixed with an appropriate loading buffer (for denaturing agarose gel electrophoresis), heated to 65°C for 10 minutes and then placed on ice.
Note: This product is sensitive to degradation by RNase and therefore should be handled with caution to ensure that RNases are not introduced into the product. Use of diethyl pyrocarbonate (DEPC)-treated solutions and gloves is recommended. |
