AMRESCO introduces two Phenol S/P™ products, Phenol S/P, Buffer Saturated and Phenol:Chloroform:Isoamyl Alcohol S/P (25:24:1), for maximum convenience. Both Phenol S/P mixtures are ready-to-use single-phase solutions that do not have to be equilibrated with a buffering solution prior to use. These newest phenol products for nucleic acid purification allow the end user to extract proteins in less time and with fewer associated hazards than preparing traditional phenol solutions in the laboratory.

 

Phenol S/P, Buffer-Saturated (K168):
This single-phase phenol product is saturated with Tris-HCl buffer to produce a ready-to-use solution for the extraction of cellular components (proteins and lipids) from nucleic acid isolations. Equilibrated to pH  7.5 @ 25°C, this single-phase phenol mixture is used at room temperature and stored at 2-8°C.

 

Phenol S/P, Buffer-Saturated Specifications:

  • Appearance @ 25°C :                                 Clear, Single-Phase

  • pH @ 25°C (20-fold dilution in H2O) :         7.65 +/- 0.15

 

Phenol:Chloroform:Isoamyl Alcohol S/P (25:24:1) (K169)

This single-phase phenol product is a mixture of phenol, chloroform, and isoamyl alcohol (25:24:1, v/v) in a ready-to-use solution for the extraction of cellular components (proteins and lipids) from nucleic acid isolations. Equilibrated to pH > 8.0 @ 25°C, this single-phase phenol mixture is used at room temperature and stored at 2-8°C.

  • pH (aqueous phase) @ 25°C (1:1 dilution in H2O) :    8.20 +/- 0.15
AMRESCO Phenol S/P mixtures are produced using biotechnology grade reagents to ensure a high quality, nuclease-free product. These phenol mixtures may exhibit two phases when properly stored at 2-8°C; therefore, they should be warmed to room temperature prior to use. For increased safety and stability, Phenol S/P solutions are packaged under argon in plastic-coated, shatter-resistant amber glass bottles.
