What precautions should I take when using the built-in ELSD?
To ensure that you obtain the best possible results with your built-in ELSD, we recommend observing the following precautions for use:
- Insert the make-up pump tubing into a bottle of isopropanol before turning on the puriFlash
- For all methods using the built-in ELSD, enter "5" for column F1 when editing the methods ("Detector" tab).
- The 10 µm screens (P/N: 1H6330) in the filters (P/N: 1H6320) must be replaced on a regular basis.
- After each purification, the cleaning step is essential to avoid nebulizer and split valve clogging.
For this, purge the puriFlash and built-in ELSD with isopropanol by clicking on "ELSD split purge".
- Make-up solvent consumption is of 150 µl/min.
Check that there is enough solvent in the bottle before starting the purification process.
- Do not forget to fit the column before launching a method, to avoid damaging the split valve (Pmax = 17 bar).
The pressure is borne by the column. Consequently, the split valve is not pressurised.
To protect the split valve, a window is displayed asking the user whether the column was fitted at the start of the run.
- Important: Phosphate, sodium, sulphate, potassium, HCl and H2SO4 buffers must not be used.
- During transport, the built-in ELSD is completely disassembled (nebulizer, glass tube and black support).
- For maintenance or repairs, see the puriFlash manual.
